Last Friday evening, we were excited to celebrate the Kilmartin trio’s birthdays (all of the Kilmartin kiddos have a birthday within a 10 day span — Abby’s is January 22 and Cade and Cara are both on February 1 — only 3 years apart! I think that means Laura’s even more Type A than me… ) with bowling and pizza. We met the Kilmartin’s at the SuperBowl and it took us over an hour to nearly complete a game. The kids had a blast, but it was definitely a learning experience…
Laura brought goodie bags for the kids with little notebooks, stickers, pencils, and sticker bags and all of the kids enjoyed drawing between turns. It was the perfect distraction as it took awhile to move through that many people. That Laura, she’s a smart one!
After we finished bowling, we headed over to Pizza Hut and enjoyed pizza followed by gifts and Oreo Cupcakes. Our evening was filled with the usual chaos brought about by combining two families with 6 kids all 7 and under. The best part of hanging out with the Kilmartin’s is it always feels comfortable (I don’t have to worry if one of my children is being a heathen…) and I can totally see all of us going out for pizza with six crazy teenagers — the scary part is that isn’t that far away!
Next year, Bo and Cade will both be starting Kindergarten together at Holy Family and I couldn’t be more excited. When I told Bo that Cade was going to be in school with him next year he was thrilled! “Cade’s my buddy!” I don’t have any doubt that Laura and I will be friends for years to come — and I hope the same is true for Cade and Bo!
