Our Martin Luther King Jr. weekend was pretty tame at Chez Sticky Feet. What I am assuming was influenza A struck most of our house last week and we spent the weekend recovering. Mike was the only one of us who wasn’t impacted.
The worst part of the flu was the exhaustion. It was almost debilitating. One afternoon last week, I just had to take a nap. And I never do that. But I literally could not keep my eyes open. The kids were extra tired too — especially Miss Clara who seemed to be hit with it the worst. She passed out on the couch several times (which also never happens!). The general attitude around the house was a whiny one. We were all tired and tired of being in the house!
On Sunday, I tried to plan a bit better and changed our location in the house frequently (even just moving from the basement to the living room to the kitchen can help, amazingly) and I threw a few quick and easy projects/activities together for the kiddos. They spent over an hour painting various projects that were in the basement from their birthday gifts and later in the afternoon, the girls and I watched Brave while Mike and Bo watched Clone Wars — complete with popcorn and cuddling.
The trio is back at school today, and I hope we are done with sickness for awhile. We haven’t made it through an entire month of school this year without someone being home sick. Is it spring yet?
In other news, I started my new job today! More on that in a future post…

Congratulations on your new job!
I’m sorry you and the kids have been sick. December was awful in terms of missed school and illness. So far, so good for January…
And thank God for kiddie art time. Art kits are now my go-to birthday gift… although those little strips of nonwashable paint set me on edge!
What did the girls think of Brave? My 7-yr-old niece proclaimed it too frightening for I & N, so now they flip out every time they see a mere preview.
At least I am not the only house that can’t seem to have healthy kids for a long span of time.
