This month:
- Jamie started Couch to 5k. Again.
- Clara and Anna had their first manicure and pedicure at the mall.
- We had Jen and Riley over for lunch.
- Jamie took the trio to the Jim Gill concert at the public school. It was hot.
- Jamie attended her first book club meeting. This month they are reading “Bloom.”
- Mike applied for the CUB program.
- We had Lori and her girls over for cupcakes and belated birthday gifts.
- Jamie and Mike attended Nicole and Matt’s wedding reception in Rockford. Katie babysat for the trio. There were free margaritas for Cinco de Mayo.
- Bo had his first t-ball game. Along with five others throughout the month.
- Jamie attended a Mother’s Brunch at Brandy’s with a few of her Multiple Mischief friends.
- Sunday pizza and a movie was enjoyed by all. The kiddos watched Puss in Boots, Hop, and Winnie the Pooh this month. Mike and Jamie watched J. Edgar, Larry Crowne, and I Don’t Know How She Does It.
- Jamie read “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “Bloom” as well as a few other books – but Fifty Shades was the most notable.
- Mike and Jamie started watching Downton Abbey.
- We shopped at Target, HyVee, and at the mall. The girls got new dresses for the 4th of July. Jamie attempted to be trendy with a new belt. Mike got a new belt for his smaller waist-size.
- Jamie made dinner for a friend who recently had twins. Pulled pork sandwiches, baked mac-n-cheese, green beans, banana bread, and the infamous French silk pie.
- Jamie and the trio spent many mornings on the bike as riding the kiddos to and from school and Mary’s was a regular occurrence with the nice weather outside.
- Clara and Anna attended their last ever Lapsit in Utica. Hard to believe they will be in preschool next year.
- We ate at the Olive Garden in Peru twice. The first time was during lunch rush and it was hectic as Mike had to get back to work for a conference call. The second time, we ran into our neighbors, The Riva’s, and ended up having dinner with them. Five kids made the meal interesting!
- Enjoyed lunch out at Canal Port on a Saturday and our tradition of Thursday lunches out – Olive Garden, Arby’s, and a picnic at Baker Lake with food from Culvers. I’ll miss those Thursday lunches.
- Bo marched in his first parade for Opening Day t-ball.
- For Mother’s Day, we all loaded in the car and went park exploring. We went to a park we’d never been to in Peru and then found a secluded park in Ottawa to take the trio to.
- Jamie’s Mother’s Day gift was two books on food photography.
- We had the Dzik’s and Kilmartin’s over for dinner on a Saturday night. The kids played well and we all had time to chat.
- Jamie escorted Bo on his last field trip of the year – a nature walk at Mattheissen State Park.
- Jamie invited a bunch of fellow mama’s out for Mexican and bowling. It was enjoyable, even if Jamie did lose at bowling by a landslide!
- We played at Memorial Park a few times. Once with the Dzik’s, Kilmartins, and Moribitos and once after Bo’s preschool program.
- Clara and Anna spent their last morning at Mary’s.
- Mike took the kids to St. Charles for the weekend and they participated in a walk and had their faces painted while Jamie went to Olney for Mandy’s shower.
- Mike and the kids celebrated Grandpa Anderson’s 87th birthday with a picnic with his family.
- Bo celebrated his half birthday – 4 1/2!
- Bo attended his last day of preschool for the year and participated in an adorable hoedown.
- We had a relaxing, lazy day watching TV and eating in the living room to celebrate the beginning of summer.
- We bought a new mattress for the guest room and Anna and Clara switched to new twin beds with pink and green owl sheets and comforters.
- Mike took off the Wednesday after school was out and we spent the day at Brookfield Zoo. It was Clara and Anna’s first time there.
- Grammie spent the last week of the month with us.
- Jamie started “intensive” potty-training with the girls – meaning that whenever we are home they are in underwear. Ack.
- Jamie tried several new recipes – favorites were oven tacos and banana cake from Laura.
- We played outside with Play-Doh at Laura’s house.
- Bo and Anna scored a trip to the ER for extremely swollen bug bites – Bo’s ear and Anna’s eye.
- Two of Mike’s colleagues came over and helped us move furniture and stayed for dinner.
- Mike and I took the kiddos to pick strawberries for the first time.
- Abby started watching the kiddos so I can still get a few work hours. However, her first day was a long one as I took my mom home while she was here. She was a bit frustrated by the amount of excrement that comes from my children!
- Jamie drove to Olney three times – first for Mandy’s shower and then to pick up and return Grammie. Mandy is due very soon and it was good to spend a little extra time with her – including pedicures and a long lunch.

How is potty training going?
I want to see pics of the girls’ big girl beds.
