Anna and Clara in the new stroller on Saturday, before we added the toddler attachment. Mike said they look like Carebears.
Sometimes, we all need to take a step back and stop to smell the roses. How does one accomplish that with two babies crying and a toddler asking to read a story? I’m not quite sure… However, I think that this stroller, may save at least a portion of my sanity.
Tuesday afternoon, Bo, Anna, Clara, and I left the house for the first time on our own. We went for a walk! (Sorry for the poor photo quality — I took it with my phone! Not enough hands for the real camera.
)
A huge thanks to Merri Ann who read my desperate plea for this stroller and contacted me. She used the stroller for her twins and toddler and passed the stroller on for a good price, as a new one was out of my price range. Okay, even used it was still out of my price range… but I can already tell it is going to be worth every penny!
I highly recommend the Valco Tri Mode Twin stroller with toddler attachment (and no, nothing was given to me for this endorsement!). With this stroller it is definitely proven that sometimes you really do get what you pay for. The stroller is very easy to maneuver, even loaded up with all three kids. It is definitely a high quality stroller that will be getting a lot of use over the next few years.
Being able to get out of the house — even if it is just for a walk around the neighborhood — is great for my sanity. Heck, it’s great for everyone’s sanity. Bo is always thrilled to leave the house these days. Maybe with all three strapped in and secure* I’ll have a minute to smell those roses.
Bo plays in the garage after our walk on Tuesday while the girls napped in the stroller in the garage. (Another phone photo.)
A question for all of you out there with two or more small children. I am looking for a compact and lightweight double stroller to keep in my vehicle. I am looking for something that is umbrella-like, but a double. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Any recommendations?
*As an amusing sidenote – I couldn’t get the girls’ buckles undone on Saturday to put them in the stroller, so I slid them through the harnesses (we figured out the trick to those – you have to push down and then click). Then I had a lot of trouble unhooking Bo from the stroller when we returned from walking on Tuesday. I actually had to call Mike at work and ask him if there was a trick to it — there wasn’t — but let’s just say Bo was very secure!
I did finally manage to get him unhooked, but he wasn’t too pleased about being “stuck”.

We have this stroller:

and have been very happy with it, with three small children (3 and under).
It's lightweight and easy to maneuver, and fits through doorways!
There are clips you can buy to clip two umbrella strollers together. They need to be the same kind of strollers though. I'm seriously thinking of purchasing the clips and 3 umbrella strollers just so I have something I could use for my kids. I couldn't make it through a doorway but at least we could manage a walk. I would loooove a stroller like yours. If they only cost about half as much as they do…… Yours would even be great for going to a mall to walk during the winter months.
*whistles* Good lord, that is an expensive stroller. Wow! But it looks like a really nice one, and obviously the kiddos are adorable in it.
So there's room for two kiddos? Do you wear one of the twins in a baby carrier while Bo is in it?
We were given a Jeep Wrangler Twin Umbrella Stroller for a shower gift. I wouldn't use it all the time (not as sturdy and as manuveralbe) but it's lighter and smaller to throw in the trunk for quick trips somewhere. HTH
been researching strollers for us to use in the city on our second floor walk up. As far as lightweight and easy to fold, the Maclaren twin triumph seems to be the lightest that is good for newborns. (the newest model accomodates newborns- the older one didn't.) Since your girls are approaching the 3-month mark, you might find other lighter ones that work, though lots of doubles aren't good until babies are 6 months. But the Maclaren is light and folds up really small. Good luck
I am all about getting lots of fresh air and vitamin D! Glad you got your awesome stroller.
I have a Maclaren Twin Triumph, purchased this fall — I don't think it would be great for newborns or young infants, because it has no real back support, but the Twin Techno is supposed to fully recline. However, the Triumph is very lightweight, folds easily with one hand (unfolding it requires a lot more footwork), and is very zippy and handy for short outings. I have a PT Cruiser and the Triumph fits well in the trunk without being bulky. Downside: The baskets are totally worthless. I have to use Mommy Hooks and canvas bags for shopping.
A twin mom from my old FF board has a Graco side-by-side with big baskets. You can get it on Amazon. I think it's pretty lightweight, although probably not as light as the Maclaren.
I only have experience with a single, but I love, love, love our Maclaren Triumph. We got it when M was about 6 months old. Turns on a dime and folds up small. I liked the Chicco too, but they didn't seem to be as sturdy. Mac's are light as can be and the only negative is the small basket, but with the Skip Hop diaper bags that isn't an issue (they clip right to the back of the stroller or on the side like a saddle bag). I'd get one of the double Mac's and then consider adding a Joovy boogy board — not sure how well they work, but I know some Mom's love them for toddlers.
I met another mom in our situation (3 under 2) and she said you need to resign yourself to the fact that you need several different strollers. We ended up with, of course, the stroller you have for all three … that was our stroller for me to get out by myself in the fresh air as often as possible. Then we had a single Graco and an double Graco (I think they are called the Quattro). The side by sides never worked for us … they always were a problem for me to handle. We used both strollers when we had daddy with us.
Looking back, I would have added on a seat or a step to the back of our double stroller. My oldest was getting to a point where she wanted to walk half the time and this would have been a good option … and they are inexpensive.
Glad to see your enjoying the stroller … the twins took many naps snuggled in that stroller, under a tree, while my older daughter and I played in the park.
Loved that stroller, just didn't have the money for it.
I'm also thinking about getting another stroller, something smaller.
We have a double Combi for the car – super lightweight and did not cost a fortune. We have sooooo many strollers!! I love our triplet jogger – great being able to get out with all three! Your new stroller is awesome!! We had looked for one like that, but out of our price range – enjoy the freedom it brings!!
Your stroller is very nice! I had three stollers already, one being a jogger. I am planning on using the jogger and my husband will use the bike with childseat for my 17 month old (she will be 22 mos when the baby is born). I think I am going to use my carrier with the baby and the stroller for my toddler when the time comes; if this doesn't work, I am going to try the hitch-hicker board. My car is a convertible with a small trunk, so I will need something that won't take up too much space. Hubby has an SUV, which we could fit anything in. We use both cars – just trying to figure out which stroller/board to get.
Thanks for the link! Your little ones are so cute
